CD Castellón will honor three of its legends before the first leg of the promotion play-off semifinal against UD Almería. The three players, Juan Bautista Planelles, José Ignacio Viña, and ‘Pepín’ Ferrer, are the only ones in the club's history to have achieved promotion to the top division twice. Planelles, a native of Burriana, made his debut with CD Castellón in 1971 and played seven alternating seasons with the team. He is considered by many to be the best player in the club's history, having played a total of 199 games. Planelles achieved promotion to the top division in the 1971-1972 and 1980-1981 seasons and his memory remains in the minds of veteran fans. ‘Pepín’ Ferrer, born in Castelló, wore the albinegro colors for seven seasons, playing 217 games and achieving two promotions. He was part of a golden generation in the club's centenary history, ascending to the top division in the 1971-1972 and 1980-1981 seasons, alongside Planelles. Both players were part of the team that played in the 1973 Copa del Rey final against Athletic Club de Bilbao at the Vicente Calderón. José Ignacio Viña, born in the Puerto de Santa María, established his life in Castelló after arriving in the city. He is the second player with the most games in CD Castellón's history, joining the team in the 1979-1980 season and achieving promotion to the top division in the 1980-1981 and 1988-1989 seasons. Viña is a fast, agile, and quick winger who has entered the club's history with gold letters.
