The four hospitals in the province of Castellon are welcoming 125 doctors, nurses and psychologists who start their training. The acts of welcome are taking place until Friday after the departures of the MIR who have completed their training. In this way, the province of Castellon is hosting 9% of the future healthcare professionals who start their professional preparation in the Valencian Community. In fact, the Conselleria de Sanidad has covered the entire 1,189 places of specialized training offered by the Conselleria de Sanidad have been chosen by the future residents to train in the health centers of the Comunitat Valenciana. In this way, 667 places offered in the province of Valencia, 396 in Alicante and 126 places (one has not been offered due to service needs) in the province of Castellon have been allocated. In total, they are 7% more than those offered last year. The General Hospital of Castellon, the reference center in the province, accumulates more resident places. In total, 81 positions are distributed in 68 internal resident doctors (MIR) and 13 specialist resident nurses (EIR). La Plana is the second center with more residents, a total of 20, distributed in 15 MIR and 5 EIR. In the case of the Provincial, it is 10 MIR, 2 PIR and 3 EIR. Finally, Vinaròs incorporates 9 MIR. According to the Conselleria de Sanidad, the Valencian Community, together with Madrid and the Canary Islands, are the only autonomous communities that have covered all their places for specialists, including those of Family and Community Medicine. In this sense, the Sanidad Conseller, Marciano Gómez, has celebrated «the interest of future specialists in the health centers of the Valencian Community, which is a source of satisfaction for the entire public health system in the Valencian Community». It is worth remembering that the process of assigning places for specialized health training in the different health services of the autonomous communities for students of Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing and the field of Psychology, Chemistry, Biology and Physics has already ended. The Conseller has highlighted that future residents represent «a key piece in the healthcare system and are the future of our healthcare, so they must be offered the best opportunities». In fact, for this year the Conselleria de Sanidad has increased almost 7% the offer of places for specialized health training in the autonomy. In total, there are 1,189 places of different specialties that students can choose to carry out their period of training in the health centers and hospitals of the Comunitat Valenciana, compared to 1,115 of the previous course. Marciano Gómez has highlighted the «important effort» by the Conselleria de Sanidad to promote the training of future professionals in the healthcare field. In addition, since last year all the hospitals in the Valencian Community have the accreditation of university students, so they are available to the students to carry out their practical training.
